Is it legal for your neighbor to pull up the wooden property boundary stake?

My next door neighbor connected his fence into mine then for some reason he pulled up the wooden property stake. I realize he has the right to connect into my fence because it is considered a boundary fence but is it legal to pull up my surveyor’s wooden boundary stake?

I think it’s legal, so long as:
you dont have a problem with it
he doesnt put anything on your property
and you both know where the line is
