How long does it really take for negative things to come off your credit report?

Are there some things that never come off? Do the negative things only come off after they are paid?

it takes 7 years from the last time you either pay something or you promise to pay something. call them & tell them you can pay 50% of the balance right . (only if you have it for real) and they will work out a deal , some will let you settle for 50% and you can pay it in 3 installments (1 payment a month)..And your credit report will show that the account was settled with a zero balance meaning its the same as paying the full amount. most mortgage companies will tell you to try to settle all of your debts so it dont come back to haunt you. Its so many way they can stick it you , that you will wish you paid it.Llike they can continue to add interest to the account until you pay it and in a few years the balance has gone from $500 to $2500.00 then they hit you with a $2500.00 law suit so you try to settle out of court for $1500 and after all of that you still paid $1000 in interest. so be careful with who you owe.
